A lot of questions arise for those who are curious about services and how they might address their emotional, psychological, relational or behavioral needs.

Frequently asked questions

How does psychotherapy work?

Many clients see improvement in their capacity to feel resolution and relief after meeting for one hour per week for as little as one month. Most clients commit to meeting for anywhere from six months to one year. Some are in and out of psychotherapy services throughout their lifetime as challenges and transitions occur.

How much do psychotherapy services cost?

Adult and young adult individuals are $175 for a 50-minute weekly session. Couples and family therapy are $200 per 50-minute weekly session. For the latter, 90-minute weekly sessions are recommended at a rate of $300. Payment is provided within 24 hours of the session via Venmo, Zelle, cash, or check. (Please see below for information about Superbills for out-of-network insurance plans.)

Will my insurance cover the cost of services?

Contact your insurance agent as soon as possible to determine whether your medical health benefits cover mental health services. Some helpful questions to ask your agent are:

  • Do I have mental health benefits?

  • How much will my insurance cover per psychotherapy session?

  • How many psychotherapy sessions does my plan cover?

  • Will I be reimbursed for seeing an out-of-network provider?

  • Do I need a referral from my physician for psychotherapy services?

  • Can I submit a Superbill? If so, what information does my provider need to include for reimbursement?

How confidential are psychotherapy services?

All Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs) are mandated reporters of suspected and/or reported cases of child, elder and dependent adult abuse and neglect. It is also our Duty to Warn the proper authorities in the event that a client reports intent to harm self or other(s). Should you seek psychotherapy services as a couple, or family it is important that a "No Secrets" policy is discussed (see the "No Secrets" policy). The client will be asked to complete an Informed Consent if desirous of sharing information with outside affiliates (see Informed Consent).

LMFTs are ethically and legally bound to maintain confidentiality. It is crucial to the success of the therapeutic relationship that trust is established and maintained (see Notice of Privacy Practices).
